1) Purina Food Recall
We have received several emails about Purina doing a voluntary recall of many of their animal feeds. I contacted the company today and I received a voice message telling me that the recalls were located at their East Coast Mills. You can check out their web site at www.purinamills.com for more information. Mazuri was not one of the feeds listed. But if you are concerned you can also try to contact them directly at 800-227-8941
If you are feeding a Purina product you might want to keep an eye on this web site just in case. As in past recalls the number of products and mill locations often increased as time went on.

2) Pig Pix Needed
We received an email from a UC Davis student who is in need of pig pix for a study she is doing. Please read the following for more information.
“Thank you very much for getting back to me and inquiring further about my study. I am seeking high-resolution photographs of individual pigs.
In the end, I hope to gather photographs of pigs in the following poses: close-up of pig faces looking straight at the camera and full-body photographs of pigs that are both looking at the camera and looking away from the camera. If anyone is interested in sharing their pictures, I can send them a few example photos of the type of thing I am looking for.
My project will explore predator recognition in humans. I will be showing people pictures of tigers, leopards, and other predators and will compare how they view these pictures to how they view non-predator species (such as pigs).
If you want any further information, just let me know! I really appreciate your help with this.”

OK I know I asked everyone to please RSVP by 5/4 but since I had to send this email out quickly I figured I would remind you one more time. We have a really nice and fun group of pig people coming.
